Today you depart after breakfast to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Since this is one of the less known parks in Tanzania, it still has an authentic safari atmosphere. The hilly landscape scattered with grand Baobab trees against the blue sky is breathtaking. Witness the world’s largest concentration of elephants. Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers. In the area around these swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing pythons.

Start of Safari: After breakfast you drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This beautiful park with its lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees, takes its name from the Maasai word for “euphorbia tirucalli”, a bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and a variety of antelope inhabit the park as well as a variety of monkeys and a large population of hippos. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits, lazily resting on the branches of an “Acacia totilis” tree. The birdlife is also abundant, with flamingoes, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species.

After breakfast, you will depart towards the Rift Valley, passing and Karatu, in the cooler areas of the crater highlands. You will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop for a brief view of the crater from the viewpoint. Continuing your journey around the crater, you will descend on the other side, enjoying your free “African massage” on the bumpy road, passing Maasai villages on your way to Serengeti National Park. At the entrance gate to Naabi Hill, you can walk to a viewpoint with spectacular views over the Serengeti savannah plains, then you will have the lunch at the gate. You will then continue to the Seronera area in the central part of the Serengeti. The park offers a wealth of wildlife, including the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, to mention a few. Then you will do evening game in central Serengeti.

After breakfast, you will spend the whole day on game drive in the Serengeti National Park and have lunch at a picnic spot en route. Depending on the time of year, you may even be lucky enough to witness the great migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and Thompson gazelle. During the short rainy season in October and November, you will typically see these herds move from the Kenyan Masai Mara across the northwestern Serengeti to the southern plains. After the big rainy season in April, May and June, the herds slowly move up through the western and northwestern part of the Serengeti. With fluctuations in rainfall, this schedule can of course change, causing animals to migrate at different times and routes. Your guide will do their best to find the animals and make sure you can see them from the best spot in the national park. Naturally, the migration also attracts predators and with luck you might see a kill in action. Breakfast; Lunch; Having dinner Overnight at Ole serai luxury tented camp
After breakfast at dawn, you will start your outward journey from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area early, leaving the beautiful Seronera Valley behind. Since the predators are most alive during the cooler hours of the day, you might even see them in action. Lunch will be taken en route at a designated picnic spot. Upon reaching the rim of the crater, the 19 km diameter caldera opens up before you in all its glory and you will descend into the crater on an adventurous trail. This World Heritage Site is home to over 25,000 animals in season, including a wide variety of birds, hyenas and the ‘Big Five’ – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Exit from the crater by a different climbing route. This is the day you can stop at Olduvai Gorge to take iconic photos with plenty of explanation from your guide.
